Dreaming in Colour

Kaffe Fassett: Dreaming in Colour: An Autobiography

On a recent trip to London I was fortunate enough to catch the last week of the Kaffe Fassett Exhibition at the Fashion and Textile Museum. Wonderful exhibits showcased patchwork fabrics, quilts, knitwear, tapestry and paintings and sketches and designwork.

This prompted me to buy a copy of Kaffe Fassett's autobiography, 'Dreaming in Colour', which I have just finished reading cover to cover. This book is utterly absorbing and truly inspirational. Fassett describes his childhood in Big Sur, his travels and final move to London. Along the way he describes his encounters  with artists and intellectuals and creative men and women, famous and not so famous,  who have inspired him throughout his career. Glorious pictures and photographs illustrate his story throughout.

His recent foray into patchwork and quilting and fabric design is fascinating. I can't recommend this highly enough to anyone who is interested in creativity.

  1. The exhibition was terrific wasn't it! Very inspirational. xx

    1. It certainly was! And I got to see him interviewed at the festival of Quilts too.
